PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority canceled some morning trips Thursday for four Providence high schools.

Some students at Central High School, Classical High School, Hope High School, and Mount Pleasant High School will be without bus service.

RIPTA said it’s facing a “critical shortage of staff necessary to maintain daily transportation service.”

Cristy Raposo Perry, the spokesperson for RIPTA, said students affected by the cancellations can take a bus to Kennedy Plaza and then take an alternative route to their school.

“RIPTA has attempted to implement this solution but has not been able to recruit any of the former bus operators yet,” the authority wrote in a statement.

A full list of lines affected by the shortages can be found on RIPTA’s website, which updates at 6 a.m.
