Ankeny school district addresses postgame celebration investigation



Ankeny and Southeast Polk high schools are addressing a locker room celebration that apparently got out of hand.Video on social media shows some Ankeny football players with damaged lockers at Southeast Polk. The video shows what appears to be players with locker doors ripped off from their hinges and an adult hitting a locker with his fist.On Wednesday, KCCI was told by an assistant coach at Ankeny that the head coach was not at practice.Ankeny School District tells KCCI the incident is under investigation, but did not elaborate or answer any of KCCI’s questions. The district did not comment on whether any players or coaches were a part of the investigation.Both the Southeast Polk and Ankeny school districts said they are aware of the videos. Southeast Polk told KCCI that the districts were working together to find a resolution.Pleasant Hill police told KCCI they do not have an open investigation and that officers assume the schools are handling the investigation independently.
